Results of the Costs-Benefits Analysis of LULUCF in Turkey presented in the Istanbul Carbon Forum

“The Istanbul Carbon Summit: Carbon Management, Technologies, and Trade” took place in Maslak-Turkey between April 3-5. The main goal of the event was to stay up-to-date on emerging trends and provide a forum for discussion on all topics related to carbon among academicians and professionals from all over the world. Workshop on “Gender mainstreaming in the Human Resources management” in Marrakech in favor of HR managers of the Moroccan forest administration

Marrakesh, March 18-19, 2014. Twenty human resource (HR) managers have pooled their ideas on the question how to integrate the gender approach in the management of human resources in the Moroccan forest administration. In a two-day workshop in Marrakech, several HR procedures were examined in relation to their gender neutrality: selection and recruitment procedures, appointment of officials, trainings and performance assessment of professional men and women.

National Workshop in Tunisia : Validation of the Forest and Pastoral Strategy Draft 2015-2024

To ensure the development and sustainable management of forests and forest rangeland in Tunisia, the General Directorate of Forestry (GDF) is preparing its third national strategy for the period 2015-2024. The process is being supported by the regional project GIZ-CPMF. The strategy which includes an action plan aims at conserving and valuing the goods and services ​​of forests and forest rangelands, with the purpose of enhancing the socio-economic well-being of forest communities, curtailing the loss of biodiversity and contributing to climate change mitigation.

« Female leadership training » in Rabat in favor of executive female staff of the Moroccan forest administration

“Female Leadership” was the title of a two day training in Rabat, in which participated some 13 executive women (or those having a high potential to become one) of the Moroccan forest administration. The main contents of the training were to inform about the national institutional situation of gender equality, its determining factors, barriers and strategies how to develop one’s own (female) career in the public administration.

Regional financing platform: towards sustainable financing of the CPMF after 2015?

In the framework of the CPMF steering committee and the session of the Silva Mediterranea committee, in Hammamet, Tunisia, December, 2-4, 2013, the sustainable financing of forest related activities in the CPMF countries has been put in question. Given the uncertainty of the continuation of the current financing resources, the development of an adapted financing strategy beyond 2015 is a crucial necessity.

The duration of the GIZ regional project Silva Mediterranea-CPMF has been extended to December 2015, three new positions in the field of communication, non-wood forest products value chains and gender mainstreaming have been created and the global budget has been increased from 4 million to 7,5 million Euro.
